Certificate of Inspection

The Certificate of Inspection (COI) for import of products from organic production into the European Community or United Kingdom (COI) serves the main objective to enhance traceability of imported organic products and reduce potential fraud. Any certified operator that intends to export an organic product to the European Union or United Kingdom shall need a COI to accompany each consignment.

The certificate can be initiated by the importer in the EU or United Kingdom or the exporter and can only be issued by EGYCERT.

EGYCERT shall provide a COI to any operator subject to its controls and who is already a holder of a valid documentary evidence that covers these products. The COI, is valid only for the specific consignment it refers to. The original certificate of inspection must be presented together with the imported organic products to the relevant EU Member State's authority or United Kingdom at the point of entry (Customs).

The COI may not be issued for certified products in conversion to organic.

The Certificate of inspection is currently issued via European Union TRACES (TRAde Control and Expert System) or by United Kingdom site.
